Yellow Eyed Penguin - Endangered

These penguins can only be found in New Zealand. Their forest/scrub habitat has declined in quality and the species has undergone extreme fluctuations in their numbers. This has been attributed to commercial gillnet fisheries, and food shortages due to changing sea temperatures that affect survival of the species.
